PIANO BAR, OPEN-MIC Alex Weybury
Alex is Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist whose knack for crafting a killer tune is in a class of its own.
Born and raised on a record collection of all the greats, Weybury was drawn to his family’s 100-year-old upright piano from an early age. Developing a repertoire of songwriting skills spanning keys, guitar and trademark vocal ability, he set off on a course that would ultimately see his rise as one of Melbourne’s most exciting and versatile songwriter/performers.
Also appearing as a member of Melbourne-based festival favourite, Fools, Weybury is a previous finalist of the Lyrebird Gift and featured as Queenscliff Music Festival’s top application of 2019. Emanating conviction in both life and music, here’s a musician that knows how to put on a show. If Ben Folds, Alicia Keys and a Rocket Man-era Elton John found themselves at lock-in, no doubt they’d conjure up something much like Weybury’s unique brand of artistry.
